Build, configure, and submit custom message templates to Meta for your outbound notifications.
Enterprise plans allow workspaces to design and register custom WhatsApp Message Templates. Unlike standard plans that use pre-wired templates, you can author custom text, define variables, and submit them directly for Meta approval.
1. The Templates Library
Access the templates directory by going to Settings > WhatsApp Templates in the sidebar. If your library is empty, the dashboard will display a 'No WhatsApp Templates Found' state:
- Sync Templates: Click 'Refresh Templates' to trigger a sync of approved templates from your connected Meta Business Account.
- Create New Template: Click '+ Create New Template' to launch the template configuration builder.
2. Designing a New Template
The Create New WhatsApp Template builder allows you to specify the following properties:
- Template Name: Enter a unique identifier (e.g., appointment_reminder). Only lowercase letters, numbers, and underscores are allowed.
- Category: Select from the dropdown categories (e.g., Marketing or Utility).
- Language: Select the template language (e.g., English (US)).
- Message Body: Enter your text copy in the textarea. Click 'Add {{1}}' to insert variable placeholders.
3. Understanding Variables
Variables are placeholders (e.g., {{1}}, {{2}}) that let you send personalized messages. During sending, Bloopy replaces these variables with real data (such as names, dates, or order IDs). Click the help question mark icon (?) in the builder to review the rules:
- Formatting: Always wrap variables in double curly braces: {{n}}.
- Order sequence: Always start variables from 1 and go in sequential order (1, 2, 3...).
- Permanent Variables: Variable counts and placements cannot be modified after a template has been approved by Meta.
Help me prepopulate: To get started quickly, you can select from common pre-configured structures inside the variable guide:
- Appointment Reminder: 'Hi {{1}}, this is a reminder for your appointment on {{2}} at {{3}}. We look forward to seeing you!'
- Authentication Code: 'Your verification code is {{1}}. This code will expire in 10 minutes. Please do not share this code with anyone.'
- Marketing Offer: 'Hi {{1}}! Use code {{2}} to get {{3}}% off your next purchase. Valid until {{4}}.'
4. Submission & Meta Policies
Once your template is complete, review the Live Preview on the right panel and click 'Submit for Approval'. Keep in mind Meta's active policies:
- Meta Approval: All custom templates are reviewed by Meta before they can be sent. Review times typically complete in a few minutes, but can take up to 24 hours.
- 24-Hour Edit Limit: WhatsApp Business policies dictate that approved templates can only be edited once every 24 hours.
