Taxes & pick-up locations

Last updated 3 days ago

Manage tax compliance for your products and configure physical fulfillment points for local orders.

Ensuring tax compliance is essential for standard retail operations. Bloopy allows you to define regional tax rules that are automatically applied at checkout when customers purchase products or services. You can also configure physical pickup locations with specific hours to offer local fulfillment options.

1. Tax Rates Directory

The Tax Rates dashboard gives you a complete overview of active and inactive tax policies. For each tax rate rule, the system tracks:

  • Tax Rate ID: The unique system-generated identifier for the tax rule (e.g., TXR-0308465773).
  • Tax Type: The classification of tax being levied (e.g., VAT, Sales Tax, GST, or Custom).
  • Region: The target country or region where the tax rate applies (e.g., Nigeria).
  • Rate: The percentage rate applied to applicable products (e.g., 7.50%).
  • Status: The operational status, showing as 'Active' (green) or 'Inactive' (gray).
  • Created: The date the tax rule was created.

Clicking the three-dot vertical menu on any row reveals the action options:

  • Edit: Modify the parameters of an existing tax rule.
  • Deactivate: Pause the tax rule instantly to prevent it from being calculated at checkout.
  • Delete: Permanently remove the tax rule from the database.

2. Adding a Tax Rate

Click '+ Add Tax Rate' on the top right to open the tax configuration modal and set the following rules:

  • Country: Choose the target country for this tax rule. Click 'Change Location' if you need to select a different country.
  • Tax Type: Select the type of tax (Sales Tax, VAT, GST, or Custom) from the dropdown list.
  • Rate (%): Input the percentage charge (e.g., 7.5) that should be calculated.
  • Tax is included in price: Toggle this checkbox if your catalog product prices are already tax-inclusive. If unchecked, the tax amount will be dynamically added as a separate line item at checkout.

3. Pickup Locations Directory

The Pickup Locations dashboard allows you to manage the physical sites where customers can collect their orders. For each configured pickup site, the table lists:

  • Location Name: The unique name of the physical collection point (e.g., Lekki Store).
  • Address: The complete street address of the pickup location (e.g., 12 Admiralty Way, Lekki Phase 1, Lagos).
  • Pickup Time: The operational days and working hours for item collection (e.g., 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM, Mon - Sat).
  • Status: The live availability status of the location, marked as 'Active' (green) or 'Inactive' (gray).

Click the three-dot vertical action menu on any row to manage the location:

  • Edit: Update the pickup location details, address, or hours.
  • Archive: Pause or hide the location from the active checkout options.

4. Adding a Pickup Location

Click '+ Add Pickup Location' on the top right to open the configuration modal and define a new collection point:

  • Country: Select the country where the pickup location is located.
  • State / Province & City: Select the state and city from the dropdown menus to map your zone.
  • Location Name: Input a clear, user-friendly name (e.g., Lekki Store) for customers to recognize.
  • Full Address: Enter the detailed physical street address of the building or suite.
  • Pickup Days: Set the starting and ending days of the week when collections are allowed (e.g., Mon to Fri).
  • Pickup Hours: Set the opening and closing hours for collection (e.g., 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM).
  • Pickup Instructions (Optional): Add collection guidelines (e.g., 'Park in front, bring order ID') that the AI will automatically share with the customer after checkout.
  • Add another pickup zone: Click this button inside the modal to configure and stack multiple pickup locations in a single workflow.
