Understand how pre-wired templates work, how to customize message copy, and navigate Meta's approval rules.
To initiate outbound notifications or send messages outside of the 24-hour customer service window, you must use Meta-approved WhatsApp Message Templates. In Bloopy, these templates are configured and ready to use out of the box.
1. Pre-Configured Templates Library
Unlike standard setups where you draft templates from scratch, Bloopy provides default pre-configured templates that are pre-wired into your automated workspace logic. Merchants cannot create new templates because our backend systems rely on specific structured flows to trigger actions (such as payment link delivery or order status updates).
- Payment Pending Reminder: Sent automatically to prompt customers to finalize unpaid transactions (Utility category).
- Ticket Status Update: Notifies customers when their support ticket status changes (Utility category).
- Payment Received: Confirms successful transaction settlement (Marketing category).
- New Collection: Broadly announces catalog updates and product launches (Marketing category).
- Order Status Update: Triggers real-time status notifications as orders move through fulfillment (Marketing category).
- Seasonal Sale: Promotional messaging for special campaigns (Marketing category).
2. Editing Template Copy & Locked Variables
While you cannot add new templates or change their functional structure, you can customize the wording to match your brand's voice. Navigate to Settings > WhatsApp Templates, click the three dots (...) under Actions, and select 'Edit Template' (or click 'Preview Template' and select 'Edit Template' from the preview window). This opens the Edit WhatsApp Template modal:
- Template Name: The template name (e.g., payment_pending_reminder) is permanent and cannot be modified per WhatsApp policies.
- Locked Variables: You will see placeholder parameters like {{1}}, {{2}}, and {{3}} inside the text box. These variables are pre-wired to dynamic customer data (e.g., customer name, order ID, payment URL) and are locked. You cannot add new variables, delete existing ones, or change their numbering.
- Custom Wording: You can freely modify any text surrounding the locked variables to adjust the greeting, explanation, or sign-off message.
- Live Preview: As you type, the live preview card on the right simulates the message bubble, replacing placeholders with realistic sample variables (e.g., 'John' for {{1}} and 'ORD-1234' for {{2}}) to show you exactly how the final customer message will look.
3. Meta Approval Rules & 24-Hour Limits
Because WhatsApp messages must adhere to strict quality guidelines, any edits to your templates must undergo Meta's automated approval system:
- Approval Window: Once a template is approved, WhatsApp Business policies dictate that it can only be edited once every 24 hours.
- Meta Verification: Submitting edits will update the template's status (e.g., from 'Approved' to 'Pending Approval'). Meta's review usually finishes within a few minutes, though it can take up to 24 hours. The updated template cannot be sent until its status returns to 'Approved'.
