Setting up 2FA security

Last updated 3 days ago

Protect your merchant account, configure email or authenticator app verification, and manage primary and backup authentication methods.

Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) adds an additional layer of security to your Bloopy dashboard by requiring a secondary verification code in addition to your account password during login. Enabling 2FA protects sensitive data like inventory listings, billing info, and payout credentials from unauthorized access.

1. Choosing a 2FA Verification Method

Navigate to Settings > Security and scroll to the Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) card. Click 'Enable Two-Factor Authentication' to select a method:

  • Authenticator App (Recommended): Use a TOTP mobile application (such as Google Authenticator, Authy, or 1Password) to generate secure six-digit codes.
  • Email Address: Receive a dynamic verification code sent directly to your registered email address (e.g., sola@zerocomplex.ai).

2. Authenticator App Setup Flow

If you select Authenticator App, follow these setup steps to connect it to your profile:

  • Scan QR Code: Open your preferred authenticator app and use your phone's camera to scan the displayed QR code.
  • Copy Secret Key: If your camera is unavailable, click the copy icon next to the key code (e.g., PIQT6SJ6ERYTIYSUJI5G04ZEMZ...) to copy the secret key and paste it manually.
  • Enter Verification Code: Retrieve the six-digit code currently generated by your app, input it into the verification field (e.g., 123456), and click 'Verify' to activate.

3. Managing Primary & Backup Methods

To ensure you never get locked out of your account, you can configure both email and authenticator methods as backup alternatives:

  • Primary Method: The default authentication challenge presented to you first during login, determined by which method was enabled first.
  • Backup Method: The secondary method available as a fallback option if your primary method is inaccessible.
  • Make Primary Option: You can switch which method acts as the primary validation gate. To promote your backup option, click the 'Make Primary' button next to the desired authentication method.

4. Passwords & Login History

The Security settings panel also lets you manage overall account security:

  • Password Requirements: When changing passwords, new entries must be at least 8 characters long, and contain at least 1 uppercase letter, 1 number, and 1 symbol (e.g., @, #, !, etc.).
  • Recent Login History: A ledger at the bottom of the Security panel tracks login occurrences, logging location details, IP address, device/browser descriptors, and active timestamps.
